故事发生在上世纪90年代的中国，王老炳（刘威饰）和10岁的儿子王家宽（齐奎饰）过着相依为命的日子，父子两人经营着一家照相馆，虽然辛苦，但是也其乐融融。一场意外中，王家宽的耳朵聋了，王老炳不忍心看到自己的儿子沦为残疾人，于是想尽了一切办法想要医治儿子的耳朵。 与此同时，王老炳想要重新组建一个家庭，他看上了同街的善良寡妇刘桂英（倪萍饰）。虽然王老炳和刘桂英之间的感情发展的十分顺利，但是王家宽却始终不愿意接受这个试图代替他母亲的女人。某日，王老炳的眼睛受伤，濒临失明。为了不连累刘桂英，王老炳假装放弃了对她的感情。伤心的刘桂阳转而嫁给了老板吴少华（薛勇饰）。。It’s summer and a group of young women head off for a week to a house in the country in order to rehearse a play.
